Pressures Grow on Political Prisoners in Mahabad Prison
Maf News: Following recent demonstrations in the city of Mahabad, pressures on prisoners in Mahabad prison has increased significantly.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), after the recent protests in Mahabad city, prisoners’ weekly visits have been suspended and their phone contact is disconnected.
In addition, prison authorities have attempted to search wards unusually and interrogated a number of political prisoners of this prison and prison guards’ presence and control in the ward has increased.
It is noteworthy to mention that, last week after the suspicious death of a young girl named Farinaz Khosravani, city of Mahabad become the staged of street protests that led to the confrontation with the police forces, arrest and injury of several Mahabad citizens.
