Twenty Iranian Kurdish Border Couriers Killed Or Wounded
MAFNEWS – Seven Kurdish border carriers called Kolbar were wounded in the country’s Kurdish border areas and thirteen more killed, Maf News reported.
According to the Center of Democracy and Human Rights in Kurdistan, a group of Kurdish border carriers was ambushed and shot by Iranian border guards in the Kurdish city of Khoy on Thursday, December 13, 2018 and Hadi Nemati was wounded in his leg.
Nemati was transferred to Tabriz’s Hospital and treated.
A Kurdish porter, Zaniar Azizzadeh, 29, son of Soleiman, from Piranshahr, died of frostbite in Alaneh Heights, located in border region of Piranshahr in the same day.
Rahman Ketabi died and Mohamad Maroufi was severely wounded by the Iranian border guards in Baneh on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
Javad Golabi, also a Kolbar from Urmia, has been killed in an avalanche and two more have been wounded in the same day.
Another porter named Abdolghader Salehian, from Urmia, was also shot by the frontier guards and killed in Oschnavieh on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
Omar Nabizad, also a porter from Urmia was shot and wounded by the border guards in Margavar.
Iranian border guard on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 shot a group of porters in Sardasht’s village of Alan and wounded a porter named Jafar Monir, son of Ahmad.
Jebrael Ahmadi, from Bradost-Urmia was shot and wounded and Mohamad Abasi from Naghadeh was killed by the border guards on Friday, November 30, 2018.
32-years-old Farhad Bianak, from Mashkan village in Piranshahr, died in hospital on Thursday, November 29, 2018 and Sedigh Bianak another porter from Piranshar who was shot and wounded by the guards.
In the same day, a group of porters in Baneh were attacked by the border guards, 30-years-old Hadi Salimi was dead. Yadgar Salimi was wounded.
Sharif Mahboub, 32, son of Ghader, from Piranshahr and Adel Shafei from Sardasht were shot and wounded by the border guard.
A Kurdish porter, named Sadollah Sharifzadeh, from Nashmir in the city of Bana, was injured of falling from heights on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.
Iranian border guard on Sunday, November 25, 2018 shot a group of Kolbars in Urmia’s village of Targavar and wounded a Kolbar named Mamash Alizadeh.
Due to harsh economic situation for Kurds in Iran, thousands of people are risking their lives to carry goods between Iran and Kurdistan Region for a living. The porters are facing a real threat of being targeted by the Iranian border guards who regard them as smugglers.
