Two Iranian Kurdish Border Couriers Killed by Border Guards
The Iranian border guards opened fire at some Kurdish backpack carriers known as ‘Kolber’ in Salmas city of Urmia province in Iran’s Kurdish northwest, resulting in the death of two Border Couriers and the wounding of two others.
Mafnews Persian website for human rights reported that the two Kurdish Border Couriers named Dariyush Pashayi and Khusraw Kazimi died and two others were severely wounded by the Iranian border guards in Salmas on Sunday.
Since the beginning of 2017, two Kurdish Border Couriers have been killed and eight others wounded by the Iranian security forces.
Due to harsh economic situation for Kurds in Iran, thousands of people are risking their lives to carry goods between Iran and Kurdistan Region for a living. The Kolbers are facing a real threat of being targeted by the Iranian border guards who regard them as smugglers.
